The technology has advanced so far I waited about 5 weeks to write this review as there are so many features on the TV along with the PS3 that I bought along with it I wanted to get used to and be able to understand better. So far I am very pleased with the purchase and the clarity of the picture is outstanding.
I am not absolutely sure that it has a distinguishable difference in picture quality. It has lot of features. One of the main disadvantages of having too many features is that it results in too many buttons. The buttons are not always intuitive. So Best Buy Sony KDL-52XBR9 takes time to get used to. One major complain I have is with the agility of the remote. Channels can only be changed from the remote the Sony KDL-52XBR9 LCD HDTV is very slow to get the signals from the remote. As a result it takes several attempts to change the channel.
The Bravia picture quality is startling, the HT sound amazing for what might be considered a low-end unit, and regular DVD's play so well on the Blu-Ray one can hardly tell the difference from Blu-Ray disks. It is a true home theater experience. Even ordinary shows and things like football games become new and different.
Consumer reports didn't like this a lot, rating several models above it, including LG's 55 inch LED model. They also said it had a worse than average viewing angle. Well, I love this set. The picture quality remains sharp at wide angles, thank you very much, so I have no problem there.
After purchased this Sony KDL-52XBR9, I did not want to watch the SXRD TV anymore, it was bright and clear. First time I had owned a LCD TV. I plan to go with LCD LED, but it is quite new and expensive for now.
My older 120 hz tv didn't seem to have this problem(or if it did it wasnt as pronounced) and it really bothers me. With the 240hz the Sony KDL-52XBR9 Price even looks more 3d and wierd than with my older tv, but thats probably a personal preference.
The blacks are a total let down from this otherwise excellent Sony KDL-52XBR9. Always a big fan of Sony and owned several awesome Sony products from the good old days of cassette Walkmans. As mentioned, I can easily see white patches in all four corners especially in a very dark scene and is highly visible in a totally blacked out screen which is really very disappointing from the almost top of the line TV from Sony.
